Days 42-48 Frozen in Time...

Day 41 was insulation...and then 6 days of nothing :(  When we had our pre-drywall, PM said that insulation would be Mon & Tues, drywall would start Wed and they would work through the holiday/weekend.  Well insulation was completed Monday, drywall was dropped off...but nothing was done.  We received our garage full of goodies - cabinets and such...but no work.  I emailed PM yesterday to see if anything was wrong and make sure we can stay on schedule (since we also got a letter from NVR yesterday saying final walk through Aug 16 & tentative close Aug 20).  PM emailed back stating that the drywall guys are given 10 days (not counting holidays and weekends).  He had talked to the drywall guy the day before - and with even not working on our house at all this week, they will still be on time given the 10 day timeframe.  PM also said he will do what we need to in order to stick to the NVR letter dates.  PM has been great, while we do not have TONS of communication, every time we do chat, he is very responsive and helpful.  So I will be hoping for some fast and furious work this week to make up for what was not done this past week.

Ooooohhh....AND....we took advantage of some of the great holiday sales and purchased lots of furniture, Washer/Dryer, and a television!

  1. We are waiting on framing to start and it has sat with our lumber and no work for over a week now. PM told us up front this might happen as the framers are a week or so behind. We too are hoping for lots of work this week!!

  2. Oh, that's frustrating. But they really do want to stay on deadline, so I'm sure your PM will light a fire under their respective bums. But yay for shopping in the meantime! What furniture did you get?

  3. That is frustrating for sure. I don't know about there but here there has been a shortage of crews and a huge housing boom. So it's been harder t get crews. I'm sure they will get caught up. Drywall only took a few days.

  4. It costs them money for our houses to sit, they'll keep them on track. I've been shopping too, it is so hard not to.

  5. There are a couple things that drive the PM's bonus/incentive program. Finishing on-time (the date in that letter, which was provided to them by your PM not the other way around), the third party Quality Inspection, Survey Results, etc. These things drive their pay, so they are very interested in getting it right and delivering on time.

    1. Ahh good to know! So far our PM has been a really nice guy. Not overly communicative, but very responsive when we do have questions/concerns. He seemed pretty sure they will get it done on time...I am hoping so :)
