I am so happy at how things seem to be moving along right now! I really hope this progress continues. Stopped by after work, and the 2nd floor was framed, some roof trusses had been installed, and some windows in!

I thought it was strange that they left the truck with that crane thing high in the sky...then I saw what was on it...a whole bunch of ladders! I am wondering if they are coming back tomorrow, or if they are going to leave the ladders flying all weekend? :)

So hubby and I were wondering about this...how hard would it be to make that area above the garage usable? Could we potentially frame that into a room with a slant ceiling? Just a thought

How exciting! I can't believe how fast this is moving for you!!! We also plan to use the area above the garage by putting ply wood down.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a great area to convert into usable space, however the trusses they use are not rated for floor loads, and they cannot be cut or modified. You would need to replace the roof trusses they use with conventional framing members, like 2 x 8 rafters, which would be very difficult and costly to do at this point. Unfortunately it is basically just wasted space.
ReplyDeleteAhh thanks CG. I wasn't all that concerned about adding space...but the hubby was thinking about it. I will let him know what you said :)
DeleteIt is looking great! I believe CG is right, unfortunately. The days of Kevin McAlister having a room to himself in the attic may be gone.
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful! Isn't it exciting to be able to see all the rooms after dreaming about them for so long?
